Hughes & Kettner unleashes the Black Spirit 200 Floor

November 2019

Yorkville Sound distributed brand, Hughes & Kettner has unveiled the third amplifier to feature its revolutionary analog Spirit tone generating technology - the Black Spirit 200 Floor.

The Black Spirit 200 Floor combines the exhilarating range of sounds and the immense power of the award-winning Black Spirit 200 head, and adds in the practical switching and controlling functions of the Hughes & Kettner FSM-432 MK III MID Board, as well as a range of useful new features. The result is the ultimate floor-based guitar amplifier, offering the analog tone, feel and power of a real amp alongside all the benefits and convenience of a fully programmable processor.

Designed to be set onstage at the foot of the player, the Black Spirit 200 Floor - which weighs in at a mere 4.1 kg / 8.9 lbs.- is housed in a rugged, roadworthy metal enclosure, making it perfect for a life on tour. With 200 watts of power on tap, though, the amp can easily keep up with any live band, and connecting to traditional guitar cabinets, the PA and/or in-ear monitors is a breeze thanks to its wealth of output options, including the Red Box AE+ DI.

New features include two programmable true bypass pre-loops, allowing players to fully integrate their favorite pedals into their setup without compromising on the amp's true tone, while an adjustable Monitor In lets them blend their personal FOH monitor mix to their amp signal and send it to the integrated headphones out or even to the speaker out. The footswitch section of the amp also features a new mode - Direct 7 - which lets players assign one preset to each of the board's seven buttons to access seven presets directly, without having to change banks or anything else.

The rest of the Black Spirit 200 Floor follows the award-winning Black Spirit 200 formula, with the incredible sounds courtesy of Hughes & Kettner's groundbreaking 'bionic' Spirit tone generating technology. This strictly analog circuitry faithfully recreates the complex, dynamic processes known from classic tube amp designs, thereby delivering world class tone and responsiveness. In the sounds departments the Black Spirit 200 Floor has every base covered thanks to four all-analog channels - Clean, Crunch, Lead and Ultra - plus a comprehensive range of built-in reverb, delay and modulation effects, and a unique Sagging control that lets players adjust the amount of power amp sag regardless of the volume level.

Manuel Kettenring, Hughes & Kettner's Product Manager, said: "Guitar players these days want great-sounding, lightweight, all-in-one solutions they can carry to the gig in one trip from the car, so they're ready to rock in 30 seconds - for all that the Black Spirit 200 Floor is perfect! It's small and easy to handle, but heavy-duty and incredibly powerful, and the built-in MIDI controlboard means everything every guitar player could ever need is right there at their feet, every show."
